Every Saturday, I wake up bright and early, excited to see what my Bountiful Basket will hold!!
My co-worker Molli shared this website with me: www.BountifulBaskets.org. It's a fruit and vegetable co-op that supports local and small farms. With the power of bulk purchasing and eliminating the middle men, your fruits and vegetable baskets are $15 and VERY FRESH! You don't get to pick and choose what you get, each basket [usually -someone may have carrots and you may have celery] has the same items and same quantities of each of seasonal produce. The locations are throughout Nevada (and ID, UT, WY, TX, AZ, WA). They are completely volunteer-run, grassroots, no contracts, no catch, and is not considered a business (for profit)- how conceptually COOL!
So here's how the process goes:
2 HUGE cucumbers, blackberries, 3 asian pears, 6 pears, 7 fuji apples, 6 bananas, 3 squash, 1 cantaloupe, 1 pineapple, 1 head of lettuce, 1 celery bunch = $15!!!

So here's how the process goes:
- Register on www.BountifulBaskets.org
- You have to purchase your basket on Monday or Tuesday. If you miss the deadline, you can't get your basket for the week- BOO!
- Check for the locations nearest you (and make sure you check your pick up time)
- Pick up days are always on Saturday
- Every other week they offer all Organic fruits and veggies for an extra cost
- Your first Basket order will involve a $3.00 first time basket fee for new participants, every order after that will involve a $1.50 processing fee
- Select the quantity of Baskets you would like (up to three) -one is more than enough for 2 people!
- There are always extra things you can add onto your purchase
- 9grain bread: 5 loaves for $10 -I hear it's PHENOMENAL, freezes well and tastes great!
- seasonal items like: cases of apples, pumpkin loafs, ginger bread houses, etc
- Make sure you get a confirmation email so you know your order went through
- You'll get a reminder email on Friday to double check your pick up time, because occasionally it changes
I'm afraid to tell everyone because they only have a limited number of baskets at each location and I don't want my locations to be sold out before I order mine!! This is a great GEM that was shared with me, I absolutely LOVE it, am a 100% supporter of it, and will be very excited if you decide to give it try!! Totally thankful for Molli sharing this with me, and now to you!
